MHS Guards
What are the guards?
Manchester High School offers two kinds of guards. Colorguard performs using flags, dance, and props as a part of the Marching Band between August and late November. Winterguard performs without the band from early December to April.
Who can join?
Our guards are open to anybody who is interested. Music, dance, and gymnastics experience is always a plus! We accept Colorguard members until the second week of school and Winterguard members must try out.
Are there any fees to join?
Colorguard: There are no outright fees to join Colorguard. However, all members of the Colorguard are required to have their own uniform-wear (i.e. black tank top, black leggings/joggers, black socks), makeup (if applicable), and haircare items (i.e. hair ties, gel, mousse, hairspray, bobby pins, or other materials needed for their uniform).
Winterguard: Winterguard also requires members to have their own uniform-wear and purchase a Winterguard uniform top. The costs of uniform tops vary from year to year.
It is very important to our staff that all students who are interested in joining have the opportunity to do so. If you are interested in joining the Colorguard or Winterguard and require any kind of financial support, please contact Ms. Rosa below.
